Performance Today is one of America's most popular classical music radio programs, with more than 1.2 million weekly listeners on 237 stations around the country. The daily show features live concerts by famous artists in concert halls around the globe and from the American Public Media studios as well as interviews, news, and features. On any given day, listeners may hear from performances in the great concert halls of New York, Prague, London, Berlin, and Paris.

Host Fred is also the commentator and announcer for Live from Lincoln Center, the only live performing arts series on television. Fred’s 9/11 cultural reporting was part of coverage that earned a 2001 George Foster Peabody Award, and his 2002 reading of the audio book Getting to Know William Shakespeare won an Audie Award from the Audio Publishers Association. Live from Lincoln Center has won ten Emmys, two Grammys, and many other broadcast awards.
