Hooligan: A Memoir
The term "hooligan" first appeared in 1898. It means a young street tough, a member of a street gang, a ruffian. This year brings the appearance of a memoir titled "Hooligan: A Mormon Boyhood," by Doug Thayer. The setting may be a specific time and place, Provo, Utah in the 1930s and 40s. But the memories are likely to have universal appeal. We're visiting with hooligan Doug Thayer on today's Thinking Aloud.—Original airdate: 11/28/2007
