Thinking Aloud
Astrology in History--Its Origins as a Groundbreaking Science
When most people think of astrology today, they think of those vague, silly daily horoscopes or the mini-scandal that erupted when it was discovered that Nancy Reagan employed a personal astrologer while in the White House.  Astrology's origins, however, have little to do with the pseudo-science it has become.  Today on Thinking Aloud, scholar Glen Cooper discusses how astrology began as a serious science and played a pivotal role in the development of astronomy, meteorology, medicine, and quantitative reasoning itself.—Original airdate: 5/26/2014
