Thinking Aloud
Body Image Issues
Unlike humans, animals appear to have no serious body image issues. We, on the other hand, spend countless hours and dollars fretting, obsessing, agonizing about our shape, our weight, our appearance. If only we could keep it all to grooming ourselves like cats or strutting like peacocks: at least their behavior isn't pathological. We're thinking aloud with LaNae Valentine, who is Director of Women’s Services and Resources in the Student Life area of Brigham Young University, and Diane Spangler, from the Department of Psychology.   —Original airdate: 7/1/2009
