Women and Public Space in European Visual Culture, 1789-1914
Art historian Heather Jensen joins host Marcus Smith today to discuss a book she just co-edited entitled "Women, Femininity, and Public Space in European Visual Culture, 1789-1914."  The book argues that women had far more influence and power in the 1800s in Europe than most people now realize, though that influence was generally informal and outside of traditional governmental legislative power.—Original airdate: 8/20/2014
