Food Storage in Fiji
Storing food for later use is a practice both ancient and universal. In our modern society, no matter how much we hear the call for food preservation and storage, we tend to forget that the shelves of our neighborhood grocery store will empty out quickly, when disaster strikes. Today we're talking with a scientist from BYU who has harnessed the sun's energy in a modern food preservation project in Polynesia. Now returned from Fiji, Professor Frost Steele joins us again, to report on the status of his efforts to teach a solar drying process in a place that can benefit tremendously from simple, affordable, practical science.—Original airdate: 9/2/2009
