Thinking Aloud
Memory Improvement
Do you feel like you're always forgetting something? You probably are. In fact, most people do forget things and can find this a bit frustrating. Today on Thinking Aloud, Marcus Smith talks with Kenneth Higbee, a psychologist who has spent much of his professional career examining the limits of our memory and ways to improve it. We'll look at what limits memory and how much a person can be expected to remember, retain, and then recall. In some situations we can simply rely on notes that we've jotted down on paper or stored away in some electronic device. But the electrons firing in the synapses of the brain might be almost as capable as any Palm Pilot or Blackberry--with a little training.—Original airdate: 9/25/2006
