How Flat Can an Organization Get?
Groups, organizations, and clubs have always had one thing in common...basic structure. In a group or organization you usually find a leader who leads and followers that follow. But now, organizations without this structure are cropping up all over the place. How do organizations function without leaders? What happens when you take the basic structure away? In other words...how flat can an organization get? Our guest is Teppo Felin, from the Marriott School of Management at BYU. His research focuses on organization theory, microfoundations of organizing, political economy, social theory, and the philosophy of science. —Original airdate: 9/4/2009
